Director and Staff

The Summer Arts staff brings years of dedication and experience to students as working artists and/or teachers. The staff have a proven track record working with children as well as being accomplished in their art form. Here's a look at some of the staff for 2025.

  • Toby Dewey - Director

    Toby Dewey comes to Summer Arts at Fayerweather from The Cambridge School of Weston (8 years) and the Charles River Creative Arts Program in Dover MA where he was director for 30 years. Toby was the the founding Artistic Director of Urban Improv/Rehearsal for Life in Boston. He holds a BA in English from Beloit College and a MEd from Antioch College. The Freelance Press has published six of his musicals written for young people.
  • Alex Joseph

    Alex (she/her) is a student at Skidmore College studying psychology. She was previously a CIT and is very excited to be returning this summer as a counselor. You can often find her in the textiles room or reading in the library during festival period.  Outside of camp, Alex loves to cook and bake, listen to music, and hang out with friends!
  • Amy Walrod

    Amy is an artist and a teacher living and working in the Boston area with her son Lucas, and her two dogs, Mojo and Rex. After a number of years as a freelance illustrator, Amy came to the field of teaching with the same enthusiasm that she has for making art. She is passionate about storytelling and making art accessible to all. Amy is excited to be joining Summer Arts at Fayerweather and is looking forward to working with such a talented group of students.
  • Anabelle Sun

    Annabelle Sun is an artist and a student at Northeastern University, studying Game Arts and Animation. She also works as a freelance graphic designer in her free time. Other than her interests in arts and design, she also enjoys athletic hobbies such as ice skating, dancing, and rock climbing. She is looking forward to teaching art classes this summer!
  • Andrew McCarroll

    Andrew is a student of mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He is thrilled to be returning to Fayerweather after nine years as a student, one year as a camper, and three as a Summer Arts staff member! He treasures sharing his love of flyable crafts, youth rock bands, and tastefully competitive sports with the Fayerweather community.
  • Archy LaSalle

    Archy LaSalle received a Bachelor of Art degree in Photography with honors from the Massachusetts College of Art.  Archy’s photographs can be found in the collection of many art museums including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the DeCordova Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, Peabody Essex Museum, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.  

    In conjunction with his artistic career, Mr. LaSalle has been a committed and dedicated educator who for 27 years was in the photography department at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition to his photography skills Archy is also known to play a mean harmonica!
  • Bran Trice

    Bran has been in the Health Office at Fayerweather for 3 years, coaching basketball for 10 years, and this will be his third year at Summer Arts. He is dedicated and compassionate, skilled in assessing health needs, implementing treatment plans, and educating students, families, and staff on a wide range of health topics. He believes in a holistic approach, combining clinical expertise with empathy and clear communication to ensure students are healthy, supported, and ready to learn.  He has a deep respect for each student’s unique experience that always centers on compassion, inclusivity, and a little bit of humor.
  • Carmen Suero

    Carmen is an architect, artist and designer, graduating with a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University Pedro Henriquez Ureña, Dominican Republic. Carmen loves to have a positive impact on her students through art. She believes that art is a perfect medium of nurturing their creativity and imagination while having fun. In her free time she enjoys dancing, spending time with her two kids and puppy Oreo, exploring new places and nature.
  • Courtney Bent

    Courtney is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker whose work has taken her from Masaii camps in East Africa to presidential campaigns in the United States. Her film, Shooting Beauty, a documentary about a photography program she started for a group of individuals with disabilities at United Cerebral Palsy, was the winner of over 20 best documentary and audience awards at film festivals throughout the country.   • Cy Perkins

    Cy will be teaching sports classes this summer. He loves sports and is looking forward to graduating from high school and moving into college level sports this fall. Cy especially enjoys basketball and can't wait to share his enthusiasm with the wonderful campers this summer!
  • Hailey Ng Hei Lam

    Hailey is a rising sophomore studying film and television at Boston University. She is also a voice actor for various Netflix shows including “The Care Bears and Cousins”.  Her (almost) fanatical passion for film, theatre, literature, music, and other arts motivates her to reciprocate such creativity in her daily life. She can’t wait to be part of Fayerweather this summer!
  • Linda Derezinski

    Linda is an English teacher at Dana Hall school, where she has taught English and Journalism classes for 20 years. Her favorite things to teach are short story, memoir, and poetry writing. In addition to her love of literature, Linda is an avid singer, knitter, dog-lover and mom. She will teach journalism and creative writing this summer and is so excited to help young writers work toward their writing dreams.
  • Mariposa Ribon

    Mariposa Ribon (she/her) is a current college student at Mass College of Liberal Arts and is actively studying to be an Investigative Journalist. Her passions exist in writing, dancing, and finding togetherness. She started as a camper at Summer Arts at the age of 5 and has been working with us since she was 16. She absolutely adores working with children and encourages them to find ways to individually express themselves. Mariposa is always looking forward to another summer at Summer Arts!
  • Max Moline

    Max Moline is an artist/educator/cat dad who is a recent transplant to Boston from Davenport, Iowa. Max received training in theatre and art at St. Ambrose University and has worked as a youth educator and director at Davenport Junior Theatre, Wheelock Family Theatre and Arlington Children's Theatre. Max is also a trained improviser and is a current member of ComedySportz. Alongside freelance professional work, Max is an actor/educator with Urban Improv. When not working in the arts, Max can be found playing table top roleplaying games, attending a wrestling show, or enjoying a cup of good coffee.
  • Megan Donahue

    Megan recently graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in choral/general music education with a concentration in piano. Originally from Barrington, Rhode Island, she is currently living in Boston working as a middle school music teacher and enjoying the city life. Her passions include all things music, travel, and being outdoors. Megan is super excited to join the team this summer!
  • Merle Perkins

    Merle Perkins received training at Boston University and Walnut Hill School of Performing Arts. She is an actor/educator and director with Urban Improv, an interactive, social emotional learning program for young people. She has taught singing and acting at Charles River Creative Arts Program, Wheelock Family Theatre, Zumix, and Walnut Hill School. She has played a variety of roles at regional theaters in New England. Merle has been requested to sing at city and state events by the Mayor of Boston and the Boston Red Sox organization. This summer Merle will be teaching acting and singing.
  • Patricia Biagini

    Patricia Biagini is trained in many styles of dance, including jazz, tap, musical theatre, and modern. She has danced professionally in New York City, Boston, and the Caribbean. She has taught in such schools as Boston Arts Academy, Concord Academy, and Plymouth State University and has also taught in dance programs including Aileycamp Boston, New Friends Through Dance and the METCO program. Patricia is very excited to be on the staff at Summer Arts and can't wait to meet and get to know the students.
  • Rishi Gollerkeri

    Rishi is thrilled to be back at Summer Arts, where he has worked for four years and previously attended as a camper! He has been part of several music ensembles ranging from rock bands to jazz groups to large orchestras, primarily as a trombone player. Outside of performing music and taking classes as a student at Northwestern University, you might find Rishi playing pickup baseball and basketball games or rollerblading around for fun!
  • Rosemary Rauphley

    Rosemary is a student at MassArt studying Illustration and Art Education. They are passionate about collage, painting, zines, and birds. They love using art to create community and share information. They aim to help students learn about themselves as artists. In their free time, they love to walk, read novels, birdwatch, and bake.
  • Ruby Ellerin

    Ruby is a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying sculpture, ceramics, and print media. She is passionate about helping students foster a connection with art and creating creative communities! Ruby is looking forward to another creative and magical summer at Fayerweather!
  • Ruby Luband

    As a little kid, Ruby fell in love with storytelling and never fell out of it. Now as a combined degree student of literature and art at Tufts University, she juggles her academic passions with working as a post-production intern at Vagrants. Currently co-leader of WIA (Women in Animation) at Tufts and the project manager for TuftsXR, she spends her rare free time creating digital art. She’s excited to join Summer Arts for the first time this summer!
  • Sally Campbell

    Sally is looking forward to creating goofy magic at Summer Arts at Fayerweather. She loves all forms of Drama-- from clowning to Shakespeare to musical comedy. Making and tinkering are another one of her passions, and she enjoys helping kids build and craft the creatures of their imaginations. Sally has been teaching/directing for many years and is currently stashing ideas and brewing up plans for Summer 2025. Can't wait!
  • Sam Schectman

    Sam Schectman is a social studies teacher at Parkland High in Winston-Salem, NC who draws on his experiences as a camper and counselor at Summer Arts to make his classes as joyful and creative as possible. Sam's focus at Summer Arts will be on writing and film, two creative areas that he hopes will bring rich experiences to the campers this summer. Sam is so excited to be returning to Summer Arts after a short absence that felt very long!
  • Serena Campbell

    Serena Campbell is an artist and art educator based in East Boston. She holds a masters in Visual Arts Education and a bachelors in Fine Arts 3D. Her educational approach centers around the idea that the child is the artist and can engage in the artistic process critically. Serena finds joy in helping students to creatively express what is important to them. She enjoys making fiber art with friends, strolling galleries, and educating families, via social media, about the Montessori method.
  • Sophia Manzi

    Sophia (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate student at Lesley University. She is passionate about all art forms and is a firm believer in the arts as a tool for empowerment especially with youth. She is excited to join the Fayerweather Summer Arts program community and help make this summer unforgettable!
  • Theo Sloan

    Theo is going into his second year at Oberlin college, where he is studying to become a music teacher. When he's not at school, he lives in the Boston area with his parents, brother, and three cats. Theo is happiest when he's playing music with friends, geeking out about movies, biking, and playing board games with his friends and family. Theo is so excited to be back for his seventh year at Summer Arts (his fourth as a staff member) and is pumped to play some games and make some music!
  • Zenday Wong

    Zenday graduated from MassArt with a degree in Fashion Design and later earned her master’s in Art Education. She has always been passionate about immersing herself in art and creativity. With a multicultural background, Zenday enjoy exploring diverse styles and techniques, finding new ways to create meaningful art. Her goal is to inspire those around her to use art as a powerful tool for self-expression

Thank you again for a great camp experience! My kids all loved the camp and were sad to be leaving at the end. We were so impressed with the work that they did & the fun that they had with you and your colleagues!
